CELSI researcher Simona Brunnerová presented at the 17th Annual TURI Conference in Copenhagen

Oct. 14, 2025

On October 6–7, CELSI researcher Simona Brunnerová took part in the 17th Annual Conference of the Trade Union related Research Institutes (TURI), organised by the European Trade Union Institute (ETUI) together with FAOS – Employment Relations Research Centre, University of Copenhagen.

In the TURI network — which brings together 36 research institutes from across Europe closely connected to trade unions — CELSI contributed to discussions on how research can support a fair and forward-looking social dialogue in Europe.

Simona presented her forthcoming article co-authored with Marta Kahancová and Jan Czarzasty: “Creating public value in hostile conditions: public procurement as an opportunity for collective bargaining in Poland and Slovakia”, which will soon be published in Transfer: European Review of Labour and Research.

The conference brought together leading voices in European labour research and policy — including Bart Vanhercke, Søren Kaj Andersen, Claes-Mikael Ståhl, Christiane Misslbeck-Winberg, and Heidi Rønne — to discuss how Europe can balance competitiveness and social ambition amid digital and green transformations.

Key sessions explored:

💡 AI and job quality

💡 Trade union responses to the far right

💡 Europe’s social and green agenda

💡 Social clauses in public procurement

The discussions underlined that social dialogue, fair regulation, and responsible innovation are crucial for a socially sustainable Europe.
